By Rev. Yareni AlvaradoIf you’re considering a spring wedding in 2020, now is the time to book your wedding officiant! It is a wise decision to start the process of booking your wedding date soon as 2020 approaches! Coincidentally, dates begin to fill fast as 2019 comes to an end for those seeking to get married in the new year.
This year, I heard many horror stories of couples hiring unlicensed, untrained, or unprofessional wedding officiants for their wedding day. For some couples, that shared their stories with me were unfortunately after having a disastrous wedding and hired me afterwards to finish the job. One couple in particular, lost lots of precious time, energy, and money. On what should have been a memorable event was now a sour one due to the fact that the wedding officiant that was hired was not qualified for the job. I would encourage newly engaged couples to please do your research on the person that will be performing your big day! Ask those uncomfortable questions! You have the right to know if the person you are considering as your wedding officiant has the right qualifications. Such as, whether they are licensed, ordained, and if they have recommendations of past weddings that they have performed. For that extra piece of mind, you can always go to the Oklahoma County Courthouse to verify if your wedding officiant is licensed and registered. In 2020, I will have 11 years under my belt as a wedding officiant performing wedding ceremonies throughout the Oklahoma City area. As of today, dates for February, June, and July are filling up fast. I invite you to get in touch with me to discuss your upcoming 2020 wedding. Warm regards, Rev. Yareni Alvarado
